Your first step should be setting up an RSS Reader. Our tool of choice is Feedly. A benefit of Feedly is that if you don’t currently have a list of blogs that you regularly read, you can use the native search feature to choose blogs by topic (as well as see how many subscribers they have, which will give you a good idea as to how relevant it is). You can organize your subscriptions into different categories, which can help based on your editorial calendar’s monthly themes.
If you use Hootsuite as your social media dashboard of choice, you would be able to find content to share through a few of the apps. You can bring an RSS feed directly into your streams, as well as an app called TrendSpottr.
TrendSpottr is a tool that allows you to plug in a keyword or phrase that is relevant to your industry or the theme you are looking for content in. From here, it pulls in trending articles and blog posts to let you see what is popular on social media currently. This allows you to share popular items, but also see what people are looking for and sharing already.
Finally, you should be taking advantage of Google Alerts. This is a free service offered from Google that will send you emails (or allow you to see results in your RSS Reader). Keep alerts on your industry buzz words and the key words you are using for your business. Select “best results” if you are searching on a vague topic, because otherwise you will have your inbox flooded.
There we have it! Three ways that you can find content to share. Now I turn it over to you:
